Description
Sugar cane was native to Asia long before it reached the Caribbean. It is therefore not surprising that the production of rum in the Philippines has an equally rich tradition. The island of Negros, the home of Don Papa, is located south of the capital Manila and is a major producer of sugar cane. The brand is named after Dionisio Magbuelas, alias Papa Isio, a 19th century freedom fighter who enjoys cult status in his homeland. The rums for Don Papa 10 years are produced from sugar cane from the volcanic slopes of Kanlaon and aged for 10 years in American white oak barrels.
