From an early age, she loved to read and paint. Her parents, especially her creative father, supported her artistic streak to the best of their ability and provided her with books and materials. But instead of turning her hobby into a profession, she first earned a doctorate in sociology and political philosophy. She then worked as a research assistant at the University of Leuven for seven years. It wasn't until her two sons, Maarten and Wouter, were born that the desire to return to artistic work grew in her. A move to Antwerp then brought the decision: she gave up her scientific career and enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. There she studied graphic design and then worked as an illustrator. She, who loved picture books and was a bookworm as a child, now began to draw fantasy creatures and tell stories for her own children. At the same time, however, she also drew her own children in everyday situations. Ever since she was offered the opportunity to teach art history, typography and graphics at the Academy in Antwerp, she has been on two tracks. She teaches at the academy and illustrates picture books. At Ravensburger Buchverlag, she has long been one of the most popular illustrators of books for the little ones.Warnings:Warning label according to the Toy Regulation is not required.
