Description
According to legend, a member of the MacKenzie clan saved the life of Scottish King Alexander III from an attacking stag in 1263. In gratitude, the king allowed the clan to use the sign of the stag in their coat of arms. This twelve-pointer can still be found today on the bottles of the Dalmore distillery, which was founded in 1839 and is located high in the north of the Highlands. The Dalmore is particularly well known for its use of Oloroso sherry casks, some of which are over 30 years old, in its standard bottlings (12, 15, 18 years). There are also aromatic casks, which are often used for finishes and give the Dalmore malts a special complexity. Dalmore special bottlings are among the most sought-after by collectors. Limited to 2015 bottles, this bottling commemorates Singapore's independence in 1965. It gets its complexity from the blending of fine malts from former port, Madeira and Moscatel casks.
