Description
An incredible history dating back 700 years makes the Frecobaldi family one of the most exciting in Tuscany. With 1000 hectares, the Tenuta has more vineyards than many other wine-growing regions. The approximately 7 million bottles produced annually include all of Tuscany's most important zones, from classic Chianti to Montalcino and Pomino. Here, expertise meets history in a unique way. The Gorgona project was launched in August 2012 thanks to the collaboration between Frescobaldi and Gorgona, the only island prison in Europe off the Tuscan coast. Prisoners work here in nature to facilitate rehabilitation. The vineyard, which now covers 2 hectares, is cultivated under the guidance of experienced oenologists, enabling the inmates to acquire practical skills. The focus on Vermentino and Ansonica grape varieties characterizes the wine.
